Our “Incomplete” Home tour…

Living room2013.jpg

OK, you have seen the Reality Check photos and you have seen the Bathroom, the Kitchen, the Dining Room, and the Front Porch Renovations,

 if you haven’t, please check them out.

Everything from here on out is incomplete!

Today, I will take you on a tour of the incompleted rooms, just to bring you up to date on where we stand now.

If you choose to follow this blog, you will see the good, the bad, and the ugly beautiful transformations

Ta Dah! this is our not so lovely, or inviting entrance hall and staircase, entry2013.jpg

The paint color and floors will remain the same here and this is a list of what we will be adding;

  • All door trim to each of the five doorways(matching the trim in the bath, kitchen and dining room)
  • Baseboard(also matching the other rooms)
  • Chair rail and picture frame mouldings(same as the dining room)includes along the staircase
  • Stair risers and replace the temporary stair treads with solid wood(Gary will make these)
  • Hand carved newel post, railing and spindles(already purchased years ago and stored)
  • Close in below stairs with custom cabinetry to hide storage

…and just to your left of the entrance door is our not so dignified or restful but functional  Gary’s den/office/guest room,

PicMonkey Collageden721

In this room we will keep the paint color, wood flooring, and the entertainment armoire

all other furnishings will be replaced and this is the list for this room;

  • Paint door
  • Build and install window sills (to match original window sills)
  • Install all window trim(five windows)
  • Install door trim
  • Install baseboard
  • Install crown molding
  • Design and custom build bookcases to surround a new sofa bed
  • Replace window coverings and area rug

(all wood trim will be stained to match the windows and entertainment center)

…to your right of the entrance door is our not so warm or delightful living room,

PicMonkey CollageLR

This room is currently functioning as my work room,where I will be painting and staining all doors, trim and cabinetry

For this room, again the paint and the flooring will remain

we will be reusing the couch, and chairs from the den but will either slip cover or re-upholster

our list;

  • Paint door
  • Install the original window sills
  • Install the window trim(five windows)
  • Install door trim(two doorways)
  • Install the baseboard
  • Install crown moulding
  • Install a wood burning fireplace(already purchased and stored)
  • Design and custom build a corner entertainment center
  • Create window coverings
  • Purchase area rug

keep moving  forward and you have now entered our not so beautiful but cozy bedroom PicMonkey Collagex4

In here we will keep the flooring and all furnishings except for the armoire

I may change the paint color(its a little boring)

and the final list;

  • Paint door between living room and bedroom
  • Install window trim(may not need this depending on the cabinetry)
  • Install door trim(three doorways)
  • Install baseboard
  • Install crown moulding
  • Design and build custom cabinetry with window box seat for more clothing storage

We have a lot of work to do to get these rooms where we would like them to be and I hope that you will continue with us on this journey.

We have been working on one room at a time and the next room on the list to complete is Gary’s den/office/guest room.

Yes, this little room has to be very multifunctional. Our home is not very big so we have to make the most of it.

And that ends this little ” incomplete” home tour…

    Cindy/Gary You both are doing great!. With the things listed for each room, Just keep in mind the bulk is done (We know it never ends though) Afterall that’s what we enjoy. You both prove, what I both, do & believe in….”There is nothing one can’t do as long as one puts their mind to it” Keep up the great work!
