Bed, Bath , and Beyond cont…..

WOO HOOO!! The Bathroom is done so we can move in! It had to be the first room completed because ya just can’t live without it, although my husband still likes to pee off the front porch and just about anywhere on the property(ya think he’s marking his territory?) Ha! Boys will be boys! 😉 I’ll admit I would love an outdoor shower.

The tub is original to the house, dated 1921. We had it re-finished in white and nickel-plated the feet, then added a new faucet and shower assembly.

BBB pedestal sink

We installed this pedestal sink, faucet, and lights. I found the mirror at a garage sale and painted it white. I searched for months to find the perfect cabinet to fit between the sink and the tub. I also painted it white. It is actually part of a vintage vanity.

BBB ledge

This custom shelving and restored original beadboard wainscoating surrounds the tub.

The shelving is a great place to display some cobalt blue bottles.

BBB cabinet

This vintage cabinet was  installed in the old back porch, it fit here perfectly above the toilet. It did not have a back to it, but I liked how the wallpaper can be seen. I painted it white and added glass shelves. It provides much needed storage.

the throne

Honey, no need for pooping off the front porch, PA..LEASE!

There’s one thing I would still like to add, a custom shower curtain. I bought some material to match the “french toile” wallpaper design in the toilet area. I’ll get to it someday….

  6. Just wandered over from Share Your Cup… Love your bathroom makeover. I have a couple questions, as I’m putting a project plan together to redo our 1908 city house master bath. First, were you able to have the tub reglazed in place, or did you have to remove it? Secondly, did you make any changes to the drain, plug, overflow, faucet configuration, etc, or were you able to find an exact faucet replica? Thanks for any advice you can offer – and you can reply via email if you’d prefer.

    • Hi Charade, thanks for visiting! We live 60 miles from the big city and we could not find a company to come out to our place without more cost so we took the tub to them. As we worked in the city and drove there 5 days a week also because we had to tear out the flooring the tub had to come out of the bathroom anyways. We found the whole faucet set, drain shower head assembly and all and special ordered from Lowes. The maunufacturer is the American Bath Factory. You may be able to order from them directly on line, Lowes most likely marked up the price. The only advice I would give on the tub reglazing is, only do this if you cannot scrub it clean enough to your satisfaction and make sure you find the very best company to do this with a good warranty. We went with the least expensive and it came with a 5 year warranty and after five years the paint/reglazing work they did on the inside of the tub began chipping away around the drain hole. You can paint the outside of the tub yourself just be sure to get a quality paint made for this. Hope your renovations go well!

  7. my upcoming spring project!
my big question – where did you find/purchase the shower unit/assembly?
Is it a fairly solid unit or light weight? I’m wanting something sturdy that won’t bend or
    need replacing in months =)

Huge thanks for responding – this has been a year long effort to find the shower unit!

    • Hi Sharon, We special ordered from Lowes, try looking on line at the American Bath Factory, you may be able to purchase directly from them. It is sturdy, we have had it for 10 years now. You maay have to change out some washers over time though, ours leaks. Have a great day!
